Let's Celebrate Authors on National Authors Day!

Today is a special day if you're a dedicated reader. Today's the day to celebrate the authors, writers, poets, storytellers, and bloggers who inspire us - and to applaud them for their hard work!

Do you know today's history? In 1928, Nellie McPherson, a teacher from Illinois, wrote a fan letter to author Irving Bacheller. The day was then officially endorsed by the General Federation of Women's Clubs in 1929 to celebrate authors and their literary works - and later acknowledged by the United States Department of Commerce in 1949.

I'd like to share these inspiring quotes:

"If you give a person a book, you give him the world." ~Kristin Harmel

"Books are a uniquely portable magic." ~Stephen King

"The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." ~Dr. Seuss

"There's more treasure in books than in all the pirate's loot on Treasure Island." ~Walt Disney

"Books shouldn't be daunting, they should be funny, exciting, and wonderful; and learning to be a reader gives a terrific advantage." ~Roald Dahl

"For you unlock magic that is hidden within, and opening the cover is how you begin. Oh, all the worlds and the places you'll see; when you hold a book, you hold the key." ~Caroline Derlatka
