Sharing Lessons in Brand Communication

We all receive too many promotional emails and texts - so many, in fact, that we probably develop negative feelings toward some brands.

Recently, I received a letter via snail mail from Macy's, and here's what the letter said.

Dear valued Macy's customer,

We wanted to let you know that the Macy's (specific location) store has closed. You can still find us close by at (and five locations were listed).

Some good news: You can continue to shop the styles and brands you love any time online at www.macys.com and in the Macy's app.

Here's a 20 percent off coupon any day you choose now through July 15, 2024. It's just our way of saying thank you for shopping at Macy's.

With gratitude from Chief of Stores

In today's post-covid era, many retail stores have suffered from loss of sales, and unfortunately, had to close their doors. So, when possible, how many have taken the time to thank customers and ask for future business at other locations? I would venture to say, not many - which makes this outreach from Macy's definitely stand out.

According to MarketingEggspert, "Brand communication is an interaction between a brand and its stakeholders. A brand can engage in communications through numerous approaches, like TV commercials, online newsletters, business cards, billboards, or direct marketing. Brand communication helps people to understand a brand better and makes them able to connect with it."

So, what do you think about Macy's outreach to me? Would you use the coupon to solidify your brand loyalty?
